STS Ch-15
“You want us to do what?” Peter asked incredulously, eyes wide as he leaned back on the couch like he was trying to distance himself from the absurdity of what he’d just heard. Beside him, Ash looked equally stunned, his mouth opening slightly in a silent whoa. “Exactly what I said,” I replied, grinning at two of my best friends’ bewildered expressions. “I want you two as my assistants on the film set.” “In Fiji?” Ash asked, blinking like he needed to make sure he hadn’t…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“This is the best film to come out of Harvard ever, short films included,” Robert Gardner, my filmmaking teacher at Harvard, said enthusiastically while crushing me in a tight hug. “Seriously, Noah, you've done more for the filmmaking course at Harvard than all the other students combined.” “Thank you, Mr. Gardner,” I said, a little embarrassed by his excessive praise when some of my fellow filmmaking students were standing right beside me. I separated from him a moment later and pointed…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“Noah! Care to give us a comment about your sex scandal?” “Do you like having sex on a public beach?!” “Are you a nudist?” “Does it turn you on to have other people watch you in the act?” “Who was that girl you made a woman out of?” A million other deliberately provocative questions were thrown my way, and I won’t lie, their strategy was working. I was this close to reaching out and punching someone in the teeth for shouting such bullshit while I was getting…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

STS Ch-5
As soon as I heard the name of the film, I recognized it. I had seen the original version, and it was…terrible. There’s no other word for it. The plot revolved around two young teenagers stranded on an island, with little to no clothing, skinny-dipping, falling in love, making love, and eventually having a child. The man who wrote the story must have been a pedophile to conceive such a plot. The same could be said for anyone who wanted to make a movie about it. The acting by the two leads was…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“Noah, sit on the hood of the car and give me that high-fashion look, like all this doesn’t matter to you at all.” I slid onto the hood of the Porsche 911 and got comfortable. Thanks to years of modelling, this felt right in my comfort zone. I looked toward the camera, but slightly to the left, to make it seem like I was indifferent to its presence. “Perfect!” the man shouted excitedly as he continued taking photos of me in the same position from different angles. I had already shot…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“You can’t be serious!” “I absolutely am,” Sidney Sheinberg, the president and CEO of Universal Pictures, said, folding his arms across his chest to drive the point home. “I want you as one of the leads in , in the role of Jeff Spicoli, but I also want you in the director’s chair.” I turned my head to glance at Claudia, who seemed just as surprised by the request as I was. “You never once mentioned this to me, Sid,” she said, her displeasure evident on her face. “Had you told…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

It took a full day of flying for us to reach Nadi International Airport in Fiji, with a brief stop in Hawaii. I wish we could’ve relaxed there, maybe soaked in the sun or had a real meal that didn’t come in plastic wrap. But Hawaii wasn’t our final destination. From Nadi, we boarded a couple of noisy, cramped seaplanes for an hour-long flight to Nunayu Levu, the private island that Columbia Pictures had rented for the shooting of The Blue Lagoon. “Fucking finally!” I groaned in relief, letting…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“That was a fan-fucking-tastic movie, Noah.” Frank hugged me tightly and patted my back with gusto, as if telling me he was proud of me without actually saying it. “The changes you made to the film to give it a Valentine's theme were really commendable.” I chuckled when he released me. “Actually, those changes were suggested by Universal. I liked them, and they weren't too much of a hassle, so I agreed to do some reshoots. Had I not agreed to go back to Harvard to continue my education, I…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

“It’s always great to talk to you, Roger, Gene,” Noah greeted the duo of film critics who had been invited to the New York premiere by Columbia Pictures. “The pleasure is all ours,” Roger Ebert replied for both of them. “Though, if I’m honest, I would’ve preferred to see you in the directing seat. I’m still in awe of what you accomplished with on a fraction of the budget of any big-budget blockbuster movie, while still outperforming most of the movies released this year.” Noah…- 297.0 K • Ongoing

I didn’t know what I was expecting when I drove over to Michelle’s place, but it definitely wasn’t the small, one-bedroom house with an adjoining studio. It was located just outside New York City, not too far from my place. The house was neat but could’ve used an upgrade. The fact that a big-shot casting director like Vic Ramos recommended this place to actors made me realize one thing about the profession: acting fucking sucks. For most people, at least. Unlike other coveted careers, acting…- 297.0 K • Ongoing
